The 1-2-3-4 Of How To Replace A Window Sash
To Quickly Improve Your NY Metro Home
Below, we’ve outlined the steps: lifting the sash, adjusting each side, and reinstalling. There’s nothing to it. And if you’re unsure about anything, you can always contact our team. We’ll get you quickly squared away.
Lift & Remove The Window Sash
Begin by raising the window so you can safely access the sash.
Once lifted, carefully remove the sash from the frame and set it aside for a moment. This first step is simple yet important, as it prepares the frame and provides the necessary clearance to complete the repair properly.
Adjust The First Side With A Screwdriver
Take a flathead screwdriver and insert it into the horseshoe-shaped balance on one side of the frame. If the shoe is sitting too low, use the screwdriver to turn and unlock it. Once unlocked, guide it upward about three inches before rotating it back into the locked position.
Repeat The Adjustment On The Other Side
With one side secured, repeat the same adjustment on the other side of the frame.
Don’t worry if both sides aren’t perfectly level at this point. The important part is unlocking, guiding upward, and locking both shoes so they’re properly positioned to accept the sash pins.
Reinstall & Secure The Window Sash
Carefully align the sash pins with the horseshoes on each side of the frame.
Tap the sash gently until you hear a click, which means the pins are seated correctly. Once both sides are aligned and level, the sash will lock firmly in place, restoring proper function.
